Tina Dabi recreated history on 10th May 2016 as it was the date when the results of UPSC CSE 2015 were declared. The young delhi girl’s life changed from that moment as she secured an All India Rank 1.
Today, we have a lot to learn from her life because she achieved this fate at a tender age of 22. Many people call her their role model. She has become a youth icon but you would be wondering what is her story and how she cracked UPSC at her first attempt?
Facts About Tina Dabi
Tina Dabi was born in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh on November 9, 1993. Her family shifted to New Delhi and she did her schooling from Convent of Jesus and Mary School. She always scored high in her academics. In Class 10 she scored 90.2% whereas in her class 12 her score was 91.4%.
Tina wanted to pursue B.Com but she took B.A Political Science and joined Lady Shriram College For Women, New Delhi. She started her preparation for Civil Services from her Ist year.
Tina Dabi’s father Jaswant Dabi works as General Manager of BSNL and her mother, Himani Dabi is a former IES( Indian Engineering Services ) officer.
She belongs to Scheduled Caste and her caste is Kamble.
Tina Dabi’s Preparation Strategy
Tina Dabi describes that she had decided that she would become an IAS officer when she was in Class 11 and that’s why she took Humanities. She believed that humanities helped her in developing core concepts which later helped her during her final preparation.
Talking about Prelims, she stressed that her focus was more on CSAT as she came from humanities background.
Tina used to study around 8 hours a day and used to take small breaks regularly to concentrate better on her studies. Her hobby was reading books of Jane Austin and she carried out it along with her studies as it made her preparation more enjoyable.
Tina Dabi’s optional Subject was Political Science and International Relations. Since she had done her graduation in Political Science, choosing it as her optional subject was a prime reason behind it.
Tina Dabi: Mains Strategy
She believes that one should prepare its DAF(Detailed Application Form) properly since the interview Panel gets to know about your personality by just looking at that. Also, the panel asks a lot of questions from your DAF such as
What are your hobbies?, Meaning of your name, Any position held in school and college, Parent’s occupations, etc.
She also told that one should prepare basic questions like Why you want to be an IAS officer?, What is the future of IAS Officers?
